Software version numbers fall into two categories:
- API versions (SOAP, REST)
- Software versions (DLL)
API Versions are numbered with a 4-digit number (e.g. 5500) that are included in the URL of the service. If there is no version number in the URL then that particular service is always the latest version and there are no separate versions. The 4-digit number corresponds to a release of the underlying Quik! Forms Engine DLL. For example, API version 5500 corresponds to DLL version 5.5.#.#.
Software versions follow the format of a Major Release, Minor Release, Build Number, Revision Number (e.g. <major version>.<minor version>.<build number>.<revision>). For example, version 5.5.6415.36689 is called version 5.5 or 5500. The higher the version number, the newer the release (e.g. 5.5 is newer than 5.3, and 5.5.6415 is newer than 5.5.6323).
NOTE: The Release Notes number corresponds to an internal number at Quik! that indicates our engineering cycle (sprint) and is merely a way of organizing specific tasks together that were part of the release.
