Quik! Solution Goals

Our goal with Quik! forms is to help improve your workflow and processes. Use Quik! to display and fill out the form completely before it reaches DocuSign or SIGNiX so signing is a singular step. If you or your customer isn't able to complete the form before progressing to eSigning then the common solution is a different or improved workflow around the form. Sample workflow improvements are:

  • Giving the user the ability to save the form and reload it at a later date
  • Email or share it securely with others before routing it for completion

With an improved workflow, completing the form becomes a much easier and less stressful task.

Once the form is finally completed, it'll then be ready for eSignature. Most users won't wish to fill out the form in DocuSign; what most users often want is the ability to finish their work and process with eSignature at the end.

Plus, we have a few fundamental challenges to making forms completely fillable within DocuSign.

  1. Integrating this deep into DocuSign is not something Quik! has the current capability of and will require a fair amount of work if that level of integration is even possible.
  2. Which fields should be fillable for which signers in DocuSign? This is a very tough thing to manage. Although signing roles are straight-forward, who fills in data fields is not.
  3. What happens if one person signs and another adds more info to the form afterwards? Now you have a compliance risk and issue to handle. Compliance is so much easier when the only thing someone can do is sign a completed document, not change it between signatures.
  4. Ultimately, allowing users to fill out forms in DocuSign goes against our overall philosophy and methodology of forms. DocuSign is the signature product and Quik! is the forms product. If we enable DocuSign to be the forms product, then the user experience degrades and we may even confuse the user for where the form should be filled out. There's also a possible loss to any validations or processing capabilities from Quik! and will see a new need to transfer those functions into the DocuSign environment. Further on, if we made fields editable in DocuSign the next logical request we’ll hear from customers is, “can you enforce field rules and validations in DocuSign?”. In other words, the more we allow customers to move the functionality away from Quik! into another product, the harder it becomes to make forms automation possible and viable. Eventually, we undermine our own product value and simply send people to DocuSign and forgo the benefits of the Quik! Forms workflow.

Competitor Solutions

It may be possible to fill out fields in LaserApp's DocuSign integration, but that is made possible by the fact that LaserApp isn't actually integrated into DocuSign. The user can import a LaserApp form into DocuSign but there’s no automation, no pre-defined signing roles, no regulation of who signs, etc. In other words, yes you can fill out forms from LaserApp just like you can fill out any other PDF you import into DocuSign, but then you lose all ability to streamline and control your process that Quik! enables.
